We are seeking a talented and dedicated Commis II - Tandoor Cuisine to join our culinary team in Mysuru, India. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will assist in the preparation and cooking of authentic tandoor dishes, contributing to our restaurant's reputation for excellence in Indian cuisine.
- Assist the Chef de Partie and senior kitchen staff in preparing and cooking tandoor dishes
- Maintain and operate the tandoor oven, ensuring proper temperature control and cooking techniques
- Prepare ingredients for tandoor cooking, including marinating meats and vegetables
- Ensure the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene in the tandoor section
- Follow recipes and cooking methods as directed by senior chefs
- Collaborate with kitchen team members to ensure efficient food preparation and service
- Adhere to all food safety and hygiene standards, including HACCP procedures
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper care of kitchen equipment and utensils
- Assist with inventory management and stock rotation in the tandoor section
- Participate in menu development and suggest improvements for tandoor dishes
- Support other kitchen sections as needed during peak hours or special events
- Diploma or Degree in Hotel Management or equivalent culinary qualifications
- Previous experience in a professional kitchen, preferably with focus on tandoor cooking
- Proficiency in tandoor cooking techniques and equipment operation
- Strong knowledge of Indian cuisine, particularly tandoor specialties
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards, including HACCP
- Excellent attention to detail in food preparation and presentation
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and work in a hot kitchen environment
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new cooking techniques and recipes
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Basic knife skills and food handling techniques
- Excellent time management skills
