Job Description

We are seeking a LOCAL visionary and experienced Chief Engineering professional to join our team in Grand Mercure Hanoi. As the leader of our engineering department, you will plan and direct all aspects of engineering activities and projects within the hotel.

1. Planning

  • Build and develop the Annual Action Plan for Engineering Department
  • Build and develop the periodic task checklists (annual/quarterly/monthly)

2. Operations Management

  • Manage and operate Engineering systems
  • Manage engineering files and blueprints of both property and tenants on property
  • Provide advices to senior management on all aspects of engineering support, environmental controls and the operational efficiency of the property
  • Contribute to Guest satisfaction standards by ensuring that technical support services are as fast and timely as possible. Ensure the safety and comfort of guests and that any requests for service are handled in a courteous and efficient fashion
  • Contribute to the effectiveness of management decision making by representing the engineering department at all management and staff meetings and by ensuring regular liaison with heads of other departments

3. Risk Management

  • Analyze statistical reports on maintenance and repair, daily machinery logs and energy consumption logs to identify potential risks and defects of engineering systems and infrastructure and provide suggestions for relevant and effective preventive measures
  • Manage and ensure timely fulfillment of periodic maintenance and repair schedule to minimize potential risks

4. Finance Control

  • Build operational budget of department
  • Control annual engineering expenses of property
  • Works with Director of Finance in the preparation and management of the Department’s budget

5. Personnel Management and Training

  • Build and suggest organizational chart of department, completed with relevant functions /responsibilities/job descriptions/standards
  • Be held accountable for quality of subordinates
  • Review and suggest bonus/disciplinary action/pay raise for subordinates in accordance with
    regulations
  • Suggest for promotions/demotions/dismissals and partake in the recruitment process of subordinate positions
  • Arrange for subordinates to fully partake in training sessions on emergency and crisis
    management, fire safety, work safety, and rescue
  • Evaluate staff satisfaction via periodic staff survey and provide suggestions for staff development
  • Partake in building a work environment encompassing Company culture
  • Works with Human Resources on manpower planning and management needs

6. Other Tasks

Perform other tasks and assignments per directives of management


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, building management, or in other related fields
  • At least 3 years’ experience in Chief of Engineering
  • Good logic and reasoning skills to be able to identify weaknesses and strengths of alternative solutions or approaches to problems
  • Excellent communication skills which they utilize when instructing and directing employees
  • Demonstrate ability to interact with customer, employees and third parties that reflects es relevant to Engineering department and hotel.
  • Good at Stress management
  • Problem solving, Customer focus, Motivating and team work
