Mercure & ibis London Earls Court and Barnaby’s Restaurant & Bar provide guests with a warm welcome, spacious and comfortable accommodation with breath-taking views of the London skyline currently in the exciting process of a refurbishment with the aim to shift our hotel to a four-star hotel and new branding. Our new goal is to find the right candidates to be part of this amazing project to help us during the evolution to become a modern, stylish and innovative 12-storey hotel. The hotel is about to undergo a very unique project resulting in a dual branding stylish and modern hotel with a combination of 3* and 4* product.

Job Description

Manages all maintenance operations, including maintaining the building, grounds and physical plant with particular attention towards safety, security and asset protection. Accountable for managing the budget, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance and energy conservation. Responsible for maintaining regulatory requirements.

Leads Maintenance operations by providing both reactive and proactive multi-skilled service on all operational equipment and hotels’ infrastructure.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the implementation of best practice maintenance vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance  in particular, sustainable maintenance and strategy for reduction of energy consumption.
  • Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on maintenance activities
  • Manage and implement improvement plans, driving Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) whilst ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to.
  • Be inclusive in Refurbishment meetings and assist Hotel Management in communication and implementation as required
  • Set and implement preventative maintenance programmes, thus ensuring quality of the FF&E and plant equipment.
  • Control invoices and external providers’ costs
  • Work with the Ops Manager of the hotel to discuss maintenance budget and ensure compliance at the hotel.
  • Complete monthly energy reports and record.
  • Attend meetings where Maintenance support and expertise is required collaborating with HODs. Delegate as necessary.
  • Respond to emergency calls in the event of urgent and/or unexpected issues or incidents.
  • Increase the site operational effectiveness, improve on project delivery, reduce equipment failure room downtime.

COMPLIANCE

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and guests.
  • Inspect works to ensure compliance with required standards, and performance targets and take corrective action under direction of line management as appropriate.
  • Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the hotels under their responsibilities.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Planning, managing and coordinating projects and maintenance works including budgets.
  • Produce information, analysis and reports to ensure line management are informed of project/work progress, problems and agreed resolutions.
  • Delivery of small scale projects (P&L) including equipment lifecycle works, ensuring performance quality levels are met throughout, risks to delivery are treated in a timely manner.  
  • Identification of potential lifecycle deficiencies, produce capital expenditure documents to match lifecycle expectancies.

RECRUITMENT & PERSONNEL

  • Recruit, supervise and train maintenance team members.
  • Responsible for team rota and accurate payroll submission to HR at end of the month.
  • Manage, coach and develop a high performing and autonomous maintenance team.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to the teams.
  • Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports.
  • Report on achievement of targets and identify any actions required.
  • Ensure the delivery of the People Strategy within area of accountability.
  • Complete departmental performance reviews on ACCOR platform.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Formal Qualification in Mechanical, HVAC or Electrical or operational experience.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills (English).
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft tools & outlook.
  • 3 years management experience.
  • H&S trained.
  • Ability to read & write risk assessments.
  • Energy management.
  • Budget planning CAPEX & OPEX cost controls.
  • Proven experience of project management.
