Job Description

Assistant Security Manager  - Part Timer

What you will be doing:

  • Ensure the overall safety and security of guests, employees, and property premises
  • Work approximately 48 -80 hours Bi-Weekly. Available 24/7 for varying shifts across various times. Hours dependent on Business levels.
  • Investigate and report any violations of law/property policy, occurrences of accidents, complaints, criminal activity, and crisis situations
  • Conduct regular floor patrols, cash counts, and crowd control
  • Assist guests with hotel facilities in an informative and helpful manner
  • Notify executive management of all major incidents occurring during your shift
  • Implement emergency procedures and crisis management scenarios with the Leadership team, formalizing and updating action plans
  • Maintain all Business Continuity Plan (BCP) binders/documents and conduct periodic audits to ensure team readiness
  • Comply with all corporate loss prevention safety and security management guidelines and procedures
  • Serve as the primary contact for emergency agencies, including police and fire departments
  • Monitor CCTV and in-house video surveillance equipment diligently
  • Collaborate with the Engineering team on Fire Panel operation and maintenance
  • Oversee key audits, key allocation, and approval processes
  • Assist with Security Department meetings and participate in other required hotel meetings
  • Champion safe work practices, implementing colleague security procedures, awareness programs, and preventive measures
  • Direct coordination of training in fire-life safety, hotel evacuation, emergency procedures, CPR, and workplace violence
  • Facilitate security and workplace health and safety orientation for new colleagues
  • Collaborate with Sales, Conference Services, Catering, and Outlets to ensure functions are safe for all guests and employees
  • Conduct periodic employee baggage and locker inspections
  • Assist with full quarterly security audits of the property
  • Manage elevator access and floor access protocols for both front and back of house elevator systems
  • Visually identify, correct, and record safety hazards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Security or Loss Prevention required
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or management role is a strong asset
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
  • Highly responsible and reliable
  • Must possess a valid BC Security Worker License
  • Intermediate First Aid (IFA - WorkSafeBC) or Equivalent, including CPR & AED training, preferred
  • Advanced Security Training designation is a strong asset
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and overnights
  • Self-starter, decisive, responsible, and driven to achieve goals
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening, problem-solving, diplomacy, and exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to encourage innovative solutions when appropriate
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required
  • Additional security-related training and education is a strong asset
  • Proficient knowledge of security operating systems and inspection protocols
