Assistant Financial Controller

Novotel Sydney Darling Square is seeking a full-time Assistant Financial Controller to join the team.

Novotel Sydney Darling Square is conveniently located amongst Sydney’s CBD, Darling Harbour, Darling Square and ICC precincts. It is the perfect location for guests whether they’re travelling for business, leisure, or both. Our 230 contemporary accommodation rooms overlook the Darling Square precinct on one side and The Chinese Garden of Friendship on the other.

• Assisting the Financial Controller in leading the day-to-day operations of the Finance department and managing them in the absence of the Financial Controller
• Responsible for weekly payroll processing and balance sheet
• Overseeing Accounts Payable, Receivable, General Ledger, and any ad-hoc requests
• Overseeing and assisting the purchasing department as and when required
• Assisting with budget, forecasts, and month-end process
• Ensuring timely and accurate reporting
• Engaging with department managers and other departments to develop SOP and effective measures to enhance the department’s profitability and compliance
• Assisting with any Accor and Hotel owner’s requests and querie
• Train, develop, and manage the Finance team ensuring compliance, accuracy, and financial integrity

• Hold a tertiary qualification in Accounting or similar
• Having a sound knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and an understanding of USALI is preferable but not necessary
• Previous experience in a similar role within a hotel will be ideal
• Previous experience in AR, AP, Payroll, and audit
• Experience with Opera, SUN, Shiji, and Zambion are preferred but not necessary
• Possess good written and verbal communication skills, highly organized with attention to detail, and able to manage priorities to meet deadlines
• Can do attitude and have ability to problem solving and being proactive
