Job Description

Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Finance supports the Director of Finance in overseeing all financial operations of the hotel, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, to ensure optimal profitability and compliance with internal and external standards. This role collaborates closely with department heads to provide financial insights and maintain the highest level of fiscal responsibility and guest service excellence.

Primary Duties:

  • Assist the Director of Finance in managing the hotel’s full-cycle accounting operations in accordance with the hotel’s financial policies and procedures.
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring timely submission of financial statements to the company’s regional offices.
  • Record and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet and bank reconciliations, promptly investigating and resolving any discrepancies timely.
  • Prepare and reconcile tax payments and reports, addressing discrepancies as needed. Maintain organized records and supporting documentation to ensure accurate and compliant monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings in accordance with city, state, and federal regulations.
  • Oversee preparation and analysis of financial reports, forecasts, and budgets to support strategic planning and business performance.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements, internal controls, and corporate governance as prescribed by Accor Group Finance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and with senior leadership.
  • A strong sense of ethics and dedication to compliance with financial laws, policies, and internal controls.

Secondary Duties:

  • Supervise, train, and develop the finance team in line with the hotel’s standards of excellence.
  • Provide strategic financial insights to department heads and the Executive Committee to optimize revenue and cost management while upholding Sofitel’s luxury service standards.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, implementing recommended changes and best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in hotel finance or accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Prior experience in a luxury hotel environment strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Sofitel financial systems and standards (e.g., SunSystems, Opera PMS, BI tools) is a strong advantage.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and hotel accounting software.
  • Experience with financial audits and compliance reporting.

Pay Range: $92,000 - $110,000 annual salary
