Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and safety-conscious Water Sports Instructor to join our team in Gaafu Alifu Atoll, Maldives. This is an excellent opportunity for a local professional to share your passion for water sports while delivering exceptional guest experiences in one of the world's most beautiful marine environments. As a Water Sports Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching guests of all skill levels and ensuring they have a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience on the water.
- Conduct water sports instruction sessions including diving, snorkeling, windsurfing, kayaking, and other aquatic activities in accordance with established safety protocols
- Assess participant skill levels and customize instruction to meet individual needs and learning objectives
- Demonstrate proper techniques, equipment usage, and safety procedures before and during all water activities
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of local marine conditions, weather patterns, and environmental factors specific to Gaafu Alifu Atoll
- Ensure all equipment is properly maintained, inspected, and stored according to safety standards
- Monitor participant behavior and water conditions throughout sessions to identify and mitigate potential hazards
- Provide clear, encouraging communication to build confidence and foster a positive learning environment
- Respond promptly to emergencies and provide first aid assistance when necessary
- Maintain detailed records of participant progress, certifications, and activity logs
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate schedules, share best practices, and support operational excellence
- Educate guests about marine conservation and environmental responsibility
- Uphold company standards for professionalism, appearance, and customer service excellence
Qualifications
- Current certification in water sports instruction (diving, snorkeling, or equivalent) from a recognized organization
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience instructing water sports to diverse participant groups
- Advanced swimming proficiency and comfort in open water environments
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Strong knowledge of water safety protocols and risk management procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and motivate participants
- Physical fitness and ability to perform water-based activities for extended periods
- Proficiency in equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with Maldivian waters, marine life, and local environmental conditions
- Fluency in English; additional language skills are advantageous
- Demonstrated commitment to guest safety and satisfaction
- Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays
- Local residency or willingness to relocate to Gaafu Alifu Atoll
