A fantastic opportunity has become available for a highly skilled and talented Sous Chef to join the team at Novotel Sydney Parramatta. 


Job Description

  •  Oversee the kitchen team in the absence of the Executive Chef, ensuring smooth operations and maintaining high standards of food quality and service.
  • Prepare and present menu items that showcase variety and flair, aligning with the hotel’s commitment to delivering exciting and profitable culinary experiences. Actively contribute to the menu planning process, incorporating seasonal and local ingredients.
  • Work closely with service teams to ensure seamless communication and delivery of quality products and service to guests, fostering a sense of belonging and teamwork.
  • Assist with ordering, maintaining, and managing stock while implementing strategies to reduce wastage and enhance sustainability practices.
  • Lead, inspire, and develop team members through hands-on training, providing guidance and support that promotes high performance and a culture of trust.
  • Actively train team members and promote compliance with food safety standards, hygiene, cleanliness, and other compliance requirements, ensuring a safe and healthy kitchen environment.
  • Create a positive kitchen culture, encouraging open communication and collaboration among team members
  • Stay updated on culinary trends and techniques, bringing creativity and boldness to the kitchen that aligns with the hotel’s vision and values. 

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a fast-paced kitchen environment, with a strong understanding of culinary techniques and kitchen equipment.
  • A ‘can-do’ attitude and a genuine passion for hospitality that inspires those around you, contributing to a vibrant team atmosphere.
  • A flair for creativity and a passion for all things culinary, with a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
  • The ability to thrive in a dynamic team environment, providing support and encouragement to colleagues while fostering a sense of belonging.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills that facilitate effective collaboration and team dynamics
  • Valid working rights in Australia, ensuring compliance with local employment regulations.
