Job Description

Our Sous Chef supports our Head Chef in leading kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, consistency, and team management. Offering the Hospitality award salary of $79,521 per annum, plus superannuation, this is a hands-on role that requires team leadership, attention to detail and excellent organisational skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations

  • Lead, train and inspire the kitchen team, fostering a fun and collaborative workplace

  • Identify learning and coaching opportunities to support our Heartists to grow their careers

  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels, ordering stock as required while controlling food and labour costs

  • Ensure high standards of food safety and hygiene are maintained by all team members

  • Contribute to menu planning, seasonal updates and creative specials that align with our bar, restaurant and cafe identities as well as meeting Novotel brand standards

  • Coordinate with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless service


Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of experience as a Sous Chef within a high-volume restaurant environment. Hotel experience will be an advantage

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a kitchen team, from kitchen attendants to CDPs, with good communication skills and a positive attitude

  • Organised, calm, and able to consistently maintain quality and presentation across different service periods

  • Commitment to delivering memorable dining experiences for every guest

  • Able to work a rotating roster across breakfast, lunch and dinner service, you must be available to work weekends on a regular basis.

  • To be considered for this role you must have full working rights in Australia.  We are unable to offer sponsorship.
