Job Description

Reporting to the Portfolio General Manager, you will manage all aspects of the maintenance and engineering functions of our hotels and be an integral part of the portfolio leadership team.  Leading a small, dedicated team, you will provide support and information to the General Manager, the Hotel Managers of each of our hotels, and the wider team.                                            

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure compliance standards are met in aspects of building, equipment, energy consumption, water, contractors, and environmental programs.
  • Lead brand compliance for both Novotel and ibis Budget hotels within your department scope
  • Manage capital expenditure projects
  • Proactively review hotel products, oversee and carry out maintenance and general repairs to ensure the smooth operation of all hotel departments
  • Contractor management
  • Be actively involved in the Health & Safety of our guests and our team members
  • Develop and implement effective strategies and solutions to improve energy, water and waste management, and our environmental impact
  • Drive team engagement and promote a positive team culture

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar role within hotels or residential accommodation is preferred
  • A trade qualification would be an advantage
  • A strong knowledge of engineering systems & procedures
  • The ability to align departmental activities and planning with business objectives
  • Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects
  • Superior relationship building skills with stakeholders & contractors
  • A leadership style that is authentic, engaging and strategic, with clear communication at all levels
