Job Description

At Hotel Chadstone Melbourne MGallery, luxury and excellence aren’t just front-of-house — they start in the kitchen. This is your chance to be part of a dynamic culinary team in one of Melbourne’s premier hotels.

Are you someone who finds satisfaction in a sparkling clean kitchen, loves being part of a buzzing team environment, and enjoys knowing your work keeps the entire operation running smoothly? We’re looking for a Kitchen Steward to bring energy, reliability and a great attitude to our back-of-house team.

The key duties of this position include the following:

  • Cleaning duties within the kitchen, food preparation areas and back of house.
  • General pantry duties - maintaining cleanliness of pantry, fridges and freezers
  • Ensure all operating equipment, crockery, cutlery & glassware is hygienically and safely stored.
  • Operate dishwashing machine as per instruction manual
  • Assist in the preparation of food as directed by the Executive Chef or supervisory team.
  • Ensure all kitchens are kept clean and tidy according to current Health & Hygiene regulations.
  • Ensure each outlet is supplied with sanitised clean and dry operational equipment.
  • Count, sort and prepare operating equipment as required.
  • Ensure garbage is collected and disposed of correctly from all kitchen and back of house areas each shift.
  • Ensure correct handling of chemicals and equipment as per manufacturers instructions.
  • Contribute to cost control through energy conservation and the careful use of water, cleaning materials and other appliances.

Hourly Pay rates:

  • Mon to Fri: $24.95 (+ $2.81 evening loading after 7pm)
  • Saturday: $31.19
  • Sunday: $37.43
  • Public Holidays: $56.14

Plus:

  • Guaranteed full-time hours - 38 hours per week
  • Paid annual leave, including leave loading

Qualifications

  • A team player with a 'can do' attitude.
  • Previous experience in a commercial kitchen environment.
  • Understanding of food safety requirements. 
  • Previous cleaning, customer service or hospitality experience.
  • A high standard of grooming and presentation.
  • Must be able to work evenings until 12 midnight and have the ability and flexibility to work across a 7 day roster.
