To teach five star quality fitness classes to enhance the experience and wellness of all guests all while maintaining a positive working environment.

Responsibilities:

• Teach a variety of guest exercise classes.
• Instruct guests in proper use of all exercise equipment, including weight machines, free weights, cardiovascular machines, etc.
• Assist in administrating non-technical fitness tests and provide personal fitness consultations and personal training to guests as scheduled by the appointments room.
• Provide personal attention to the guests/members to ensure a pleasant visit for each guest and
• maintain effective guest relations.
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of spa and resort programs, facilities, activities and products.
• Replenish guest amenities and towels as necessary to ensure a clean, crisp and sanitary spa.
• Uphold neatness and cleanliness of the fitness equipment and facilities as directed.
• Maintain safety standards in weight and cardio room and exercise classes.
• Stay current on all department information, become well-versed and trained in its application and train locker room staff accordingly.
• Assist the Treatment manager in the development of fitness programming.
• Work cooperatively and professionally with all departments within resort.
• Inspect and evaluate the operating condition of all equipment according to the manufacturer’s specifications and make corrections or report to the Spa Treatments Manager as warranted.
• Comply with all Grand Del Mar Company safety and health policies and procedures.
• Attend regular meetings as directed by the Spa Treatments manager or Spa Director.
• Conduct tours of the facility.
• Serve as a role model in all job functions.
• Keep management informed with all guest, staff and program issues.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager to include special projects and/or basic maintenance of the fitness facilities.

• Two years experience in leading exercise classes preferred. Two years as a personal trainer. Ability to teach a wide variety of classes. Must be professional, service oriented, accurate, gentle and work with attention to detail, striving to exceed the expectations of every guest every time.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Certification as a fitness instructor or personal trainer (e.g., NASM, ACE, or equivalent).
• Some computer knowledge helpful; not required.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office application, Spa Soft (will train) and basic accounting principles.
