And now, we’re looking for an experienced Assistant Chief Engineer to assist in leading the engine room behind it all.
Job Description
As Assistant Chief Engineer, you will play a key leadership role in supporting the Hotel's maintenance operations, ensuring our iconic luxury property continues to deliver exceptional standards across all guest-facing and back-of-house areas.
Working closely with the Chief Engineer, you will act as the department's second-in-command, helping lead a skilled engineering team while overseeing the day-to-day maintenance, safety, compliance and asset management of the hotel.

What You'll Be Responsible For
- Supporting the Chief Engineer in leading the Engineering department and daily operations across the hotel.
- Overseeing preventative maintenance programs and the performance of building services, plant and equipment.
- Leading, coaching and developing the engineering team while promoting a strong safety culture.
- Managing maintenance priorities, contractor works and compliance requirements to the highest standard.
- Supporting capital projects, sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
- Working closely with operational departments to ensure a seamless luxury guest experience.
- Acting as the department leader in the absence of the Chief Engineer and providing hands-on technical support when required.
Qualifications
Your keys to success in this role include:
- Previous experience in a hotel engineering, facilities management or maintenance leadership role, ideally within a luxury hotel, premium hospitality environment or large-scale facility.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing engineering teams in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong technical knowledge across building services, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing and general maintenance systems.
- Sound understanding of preventative maintenance programs, contractor management, WHS and statutory compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across departments.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays as required.
