Job Description

Regional Account Director, West Coast USA – Fairmont Vancouver Hotels

The Regional Account Director, West Coast USA, will strategically oversee this key group segment to identify and book meeting and incentive business for Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Fairmont Pacific Rim and Fairmont Waterfront. The Regional Account Director is an expert in their market, has strong and longstanding business relationships with influencers and decision makers both with direct clients as well as with third party planners.

What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Area Director, Group Sales, the role is based at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.  The candidate will have multiple years of sales experience, be extremely well connected, up to speed with all new trends and has a proven record of accomplishment in the following areas:

  • Achieve and exceed assigned sales goals
  • Converting business opportunities into definitive bookings
  • Increasing business opportunities through pro-active business development
  • Implementing and executing on strategic sales plans
  • Conduct routine & timely calls on assigned accounts
  • Organize and lead client events, sites & business development trips
  • Participate in training, industry trade shows and sales trips
  • Collect market and competitive intelligence to maximize group sales opportunities
  • Build relationships with all relevant stakeholders: Accor Global Sales Office(s), Industry Partners, Meetings Industry, DMC’s, Attractions and Offsite Venues
  • Partner with sister hotels to optimize Accor exposure and build business
  • Utilize Opera Sales System to track, solicit, book and follow up on accounts
  • Quote and negotiate rates within established parameters
  • Upon closing, coordinate and follow up with event services and/or other hotel departments to ensure delivery of hotel's promised services
  • Jointly supervise the training and development of assigned Sales Coordinator
  • Support group sales team and handle special projects as assigned
  • Participate in departmental / self-guided training and development
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports, as required
  • Communicate and represent customers and booked events at each hotel. Communicating/hosting sites, attending Leadership meetings, Resume & Pre-con Meetings, and ensuring strong sales presence while customers are onsite
  • Promote ALL Meeting Planner program Follow departmental policies and procedures, and all safety policies
  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service to both internal and external customers
  • Support the goals, objectives and philosophies of Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Fairmont Pacific Rim and Fairmont Waterfront

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • Minimum of five years hotel sales experience required
  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or Hotel Management Degree preferred
  • Multiple years of experience in senior sales role in luxury hotel environment
  • Multiple property sales experience is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required
  • Computer literacy in various applications and tools including Opera Sales & Catering / SFA System (or other CMS), Microsoft Office, Cvent, LinkedIn
  • Goal oriented, competitive and well organized
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities, role model in pro-active sales
  • Ability to analyze financial data to create winning group strategies and solutions
  • Positive attitude, firm and supportive, team based approach to ensure attainment of the hotel’s short and long term goals
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours and days

Additional Information

Your team and working environment:

Key Working Relationships: Regional Director Sales & Marketing, Directors of Sales & Marketing, Area Director, Group Sales, Director of Sales, Director of Events/Event Services and Event Leaders.  This position will also work closely with Operations Leaders, Revenue Management Leaders, Public Relations and Marketing Leaders.

Location:  The role is based at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.  The candidate will be required to facilitate important customer activities at the downtown Vancouver properties.  Additional business travel as required.

Committees: Committees as required

People Management:  The Regional Account Director, Group Sales will work alongside and co-manage a sales coordinator. 

Visa Requirements:
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
