Job Description

We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Purchase Manager to join our organization in Kochi, India. In this pivotal role, you will lead our procurement operations, driving efficiency, cost optimization, and supplier excellence. You will be responsible for developing and executing purchasing strategies that align with organizational objectives while maintaining strong vendor relationships and ensuring compliance with all procurement standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our supply chain operations through innovative sourcing solutions and collaborative partnership building.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive procurement policies, procedures, and strategies that align with organizational goals and support operational efficiency
  • Forecast procurement requirements in collaboration with department heads to ensure timely and efficient sourcing of goods and services
  • Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers, vendors, and contractors, recognizing local market dynamics and opportunities in the Kochi region
  • Manage purchasing systems and approval workflows, ensuring purchase orders, supplier setup, pricing, contract terms, and approval limits are maintained accurately and in compliance with company policy
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms strategically to achieve optimal value, quality, and service levels while maintaining transparent communication with all stakeholders
  • Source and evaluate new suppliers and products to enhance quality, efficiency, sustainability, and innovation across the organization
  • Coordinate with relevant departments to resolve delivery discrepancies, pricing variances, and supplier invoice queries in a timely and professional manner
  • Support organizational sustainability and responsible sourcing objectives by identifying local, ethical, and environmentally responsible suppliers where commercially viable
  • Monitor and analyze procurement budgets, track expenditures, and implement cost-control initiatives to maximize financial efficiency and accountability
  • Collaborate with Finance and Operations teams to optimize spending, maintain financial compliance, and ensure transparent reporting
  • Oversee inventory control, stock levels, and reorder points to prevent shortages or overstock situations
  • Mitigate risks related to supplier reliability, quality, delivery, and supply chain disruptions through proactive analysis and contingency planning
  • Maintain proper documentation, contracts, and records for auditing and reporting purposes
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, cost savings, and operational efficiency for executive review
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support organizational objectives and drive continuous improvement

Qualifications

**Required Qualifications:**

  • Proven track record in procurement, purchasing, supply chain management, or vendor management with demonstrated ability to deliver results under pressure
  • Proficiency with procurement and inventory management systems
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with professional demeanor and ability to articulate ideas clearly to diverse stakeholders
  • Advanced negotiation skills with the ability to achieve favorable terms and conditions while maintaining positive relationships
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with keen attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in data analysis and financial acumen for budget management, cost optimization, and financial reporting
  • Knowledge of procurement policies, compliance requirements, and regulatory standards
  • Demonstrated expertise in contract management and vendor evaluation
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across departments and build consensus among diverse teams

**Preferred Qualifications:**

  • Experience in supplier relationship management and strategic vendor development
  • Background in leading and mentoring procurement teams
  • Knowledge of sustainability and responsible sourcing practices
  • Familiarity with local supplier networks and market dynamics in India
  • Certification in procurement, supply chain management, or related field (APICS, CIPS, or equivalent)
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
  • Background in cost control initiatives and process improvement methodologies
