Su función es preparar la masa, los rellenos, la sazón y los aperitivos que acompañan a una pizza. Además de hacer la pizza, el pizzero debe garantizar la calidad y el sabor de la pizza, víveres, así como el aspecto atractivo, que agrada a los clientes. Además de los sabores tradicionales, el pizzaiolo puede desarrollar nuevas combinaciones y recetas propias. Para ello,debe conocer muy bien los alimentos y las especias y saber combinar los sabores. Tambien debe saber trabajar en equipo y aportar con sus conocimientos al desarrollo de este.
