Job Description

People & Culture Supervisor (Maternity Coverage - 12 Month Contract)

You will take the initiatives necessary to turn moments into memories by taking the time to understand our internal guests’ purposes: why are they proud to work at Fairmont Hotel Macdonald, what motivates them and what their preferences and passions are? Making our internal guests feel heard and cared for creates an emotional connection to our brand while building loyalty for our valued guests.

You will lead yourself through: positive orientation, self-development, self-management and problem solving. You will lead others through: leading by example, engaging with the teams, developing others and communicating effectively. You will lead the business through being guest-focused and aware of the business and identifying areas of improvement.

What you will be doing:

  • Create the essential experience for our internal guests and deliver exceptional service as a first point of contact and becoming a “go-to” contact
  • Master Dayforce, our HRIS and Payroll system, and provide guidance on the use of the application
  • Coordinate the administrative office tasks including mail, email, voicemail, employee files, compliance requirements and office inventory levels
  • Manage People & Culture’s role in the bi-weekly payroll process including but not limited to updating employee records, approval processes and critically reviewing forms approved
  • Assist with tracking and processing employee scheduled increases
  • Elevate and maintain internal communication modes including internal TVs, boards, and social media pages
  • Lead/co-lead the planning and execution of internal events
  • Administer work related accidents and WCB claims and Short-Term Absences
  • Work closely with managers regarding status of postings, applicants, interviews, and offers
  • Engage in hotel wide initiatives and committees including but not limited to: Recognition, Diversity, Inclusion and Equity, Sustainability, Health and Safety, and Wellness
  • Rotate through and assist in each HR function including but not limited to: recruitment, onboarding, orientation, benefits and training
  • Seek and manage employee discounts programs
  • Manage projects and any other duties as required by the Director, People & Culture

 

Physical Aspects of Position (included but not limited to):

  • Frequent sitting throughout shift
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs
  • Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all time

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • Post-Secondary Education in either a Hospitality Program or HR Management program
  • Must be computer literate with advanced skills in Word and Excel, Canva, and knowledge of HRIS an asset
  • Previous experience in managing Group Benefits for employees;
  • Previous experience in administering WCB claims;
  • Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy in an environment of confidentiality with the right balance of common sense, compassion, and business acumen
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks in very busy environment
  • Participation in previous work committees would be an asset

Visa Requirements: Must already be legally permitted to work in Canada.

Salary Range: $59,000.00 - $73,800.00 CAD Gross Annually
