Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Taxation, the Tax Manager will support the Director and Vice President, Taxation with tax compliance, tax reporting, internal and external tax requests, government tax audits and tax risk mitigation for the Canadian and US entities as well as assist with transactions and special projects.

  • Work under the direction of the Director, Taxation responsible for the Canadian company group to ensure all Canadian income tax returns and all other tax-related returns for the Accor group of companies and partnerships are accurately prepared and filed on-time, including T106s and T1134s;
  • Deal with ongoing tax correspondences received with respect to the Canadian entities and other global entities;
  • Handle daily business queries with respect to non-income tax issues such as indirect taxes (Canada as well as all foreign jurisdictions), property or real estate taxes etc;
  • Prepare/review the Canadian, tax provision for quarter end and year end reporting;
  • Support the Director, Taxation with the Canadian federal and provincial government audits to ensure government auditors’ queries are attended to, necessary research and analysis of issues are conducted and appropriate supporting documents are provided;
  • Support the regional transfer pricing function which includes determining assumptions, calculating entries and completing contemporaneous documentation;
  • Analyze and advise on Canadian tax impact (including under foreign affiliate rules) of transactions
  • Assist with surplus computations and tracking of tax attributes
  • Oversee instalments and final payments and cash tax forecasts for the entities in Canada, Barbados and Bermuda;
  • Build models to analysis various scenarios and calculate risk exposure on an ad-hoc basis;
  • Support projects to minimize tax risk and to optimize operational efficiencies; and
  • All other related tasks and special projects deemed as necessary.


Qualifications

  • Accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA or CPA) obtained or in progress with 3-4 years of Canadian tax experience, exposure to U.S. and international is an asset
  • University degree in accounting or business
  • Knowledge of Taxprep and other tax return preparation software
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and problem solving skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • A genuine interest in Canadian tax and a willingness to learn and grow with the organization.
  • Willingness to take on a myriad of varied responsibilities in the tax area
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks
