Job Description

Sofitel Wellington invites you to elevate your career as a Maintenance Technician, where luxury meets impeccable service.

We are looking for an Ambassador for Sofitel Wellington as a Full-Time Maintenance Technician. The ambassador should have an eye for detail, a passion for creating magnifique luxury experience for our guests and developing a wonderful team. This is a full-time role where flexibility is essential. Weekend work (including Saturdays and Sundays) and public holidays may be required based on operational needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, using safe working practices, the building, plant, equipment, fixtures and fittings to protect the asset and ensure it remains a functional, pleasant and safe environment for all guests, contractors, visitors and other employees.

  • Day to day operation of the maintenance requirements of the hotel along with automatic chemical dispensers, VSD motors and control, Saflok electronic door locks.

  • Complete daily plant rounds and note for repair any equipment that may appear or sound faulty.

  • Carry out maintenance on mechanical equipment and water reticulation to ensure acceptable availability and reliability.

  • Assist in the keeping up to date records on the repair and maintenance of plant and equipment on completion. 

  • Completing daily rounds sign off any relevant section of the Maintenance Manuals.

  • Liaise with the Maintenance Manager/General Manager regarding all work in guest rooms and public areas to ensure out of order areas of the hotel are brought back to use as soon as possible.

  • Complete all tasks where possible within a 15 minute time frame of receiving the request

  • Report back to the Manager on Duty or Front Office the completion or delay, of any task that is guest related.

  • Suggest any improvements that could be made to improve existing service or procedures, log and inform the General Manager of any service or system problems.

 

This role is Full-Time (40 hours per week) - Must hold full NZ working rights. 


Qualifications

  • At least 1 years' experience in Maintenance or similar industry; ideally in hotel/tourism industry however, not required.
  • Trade qualified is preferred but not essential.
  • Working knowledge of building compliance, risk management, and a passion for environmental sustainability.
  • Be a hands-on person - This is not an admin based role.
  • Be able to problem solve effectively, logically and resourcefully.
  • Valid Full NZ drivers license.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Excellent Communication Skills - verbal and written.
