An exciting opportunity has become available for a skilled and motivated Duty Technician to join our experienced Engineering Team, playing a key role in maintaining the presentation, safety, and operational excellence of both properties.


Job Description

  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest maintenance requests to minimise disruption and enhance the guest experience.
  • Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance across guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house facilities, and hotel equipment.
  • Perform general building maintenance, repairs, and fault finding to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the hotels.
  • Assist with basic plumbing, electrical, hydraulic, air conditioning, and mechanical maintenance in accordance with qualifications and competency.
  • Maintain the presentation and functionality of external façades, public spaces, and high-traffic areas to the highest standard.
  • Undertake painting, patching, and repairs to internal and external surfaces, fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
  • Prepare, mix, and apply paints, stains, varnishes, lacquers, and other finishes using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Repair and install wall coverings, carry out caulking and grouting, and complete finishing works to a high standard.
  • Conduct routine inspections, identify maintenance issues, and report or rectify defects in a timely manner.
  • Follow all Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements, safe work procedures, and hotel maintenance standards.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders using the hotel's maintenance management system.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Engineering team and other hotel departments to ensure efficient operations and exceptional guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • A positive can-do attitude with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Relevant trade qualification or demonstrated maintenance experience (desirable).
  • Sound knowledge of general building maintenance, including basic plumbing, electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and air conditioning systems.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also contributing positively to a team environment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong focus on customer service.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe workplace and complying with Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.
  • Flexibility to work across a 7-day rotating roster, including weekends, public holidays, and on-call duties where required (penalty rates apply).
