Job Description
Job Purpose: To provide efficient collection, delivery, processing, and handling of guest laundry and hotel linen while maintaining high standards of service, hygiene, quality, and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect guest laundry, dry cleaning, and pressing items from guest rooms according to hotel procedures.
- Deliver clean and pressed guest laundry to the correct guest room within the required turnaround time.
- Handle guest garments, uniforms, linen, and other laundry items with care.
- Check laundry bags and guest laundry lists for accuracy before processing.
- Verify the quantity and condition of items collected from guest rooms.
- Report any stains, damages, missing items, or irregularities to the Laundry Supervisor.
- Ensure guest laundry is properly tagged, sorted, and transferred to the appropriate laundry section.
- Follow hotel procedures for express, same-day, and regular laundry services.
- Assist with sorting, folding, packing, and preparing guest laundry for delivery when required.
- Maintain proper identification and tracking of guest laundry throughout the process.
- Ensure guest laundry is returned in accordance with the requested delivery time.
- Handle special garment-care instructions according to guest requirements and laundry procedures.
- Coordinate with Laundry Attendants, Housekeeping, and Front Office regarding guest laundry requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of laundry collection and delivery areas.
- Keep laundry trolleys, baskets, and equipment clean and in good condition.
- Ensure guest corridors, service areas, and guest rooms are not disturbed during collection and delivery.
- Maintain a professional appearance and courteous attitude when interacting with guests.
- Respond politely to guest questions regarding laundry and dry-cleaning services.
- Escalate guest complaints or service issues promptly to the Laundry Supervisor.
- Follow proper procedures for lost and found items discovered in laundry or guest garments.
- Handle chemicals, laundry bags, and equipment safely according to hotel procedures.
- Follow all hotel health, safety, hygiene, and fire safety standards.
- Use appropriate PPE when required.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding guest information and personal belongings.
- Support inventory control of laundry bags, tags, packaging materials, and other supplies.
- Assist the Laundry Department during high occupancy, VIP arrivals, special events, and peak operational periods.
- Complete assigned duties within the required service standards and turnaround times.
- Maintain effective communication with the Laundry and Housekeeping teams during shift handovers.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in a hotel laundry, housekeeping, or valet service is preferred.
- Experience in a 4-star or 5-star hotel is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of guest laundry and garment-handling procedures.
- Good customer service and communication skills.
- Good attention to detail and ability to identify laundry items accurately.
- Physically fit and able to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to handle and transport laundry bags and trolleys safely.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced hotel environment.
- Flexible to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Good grooming and personal hygiene standards.
- Positive attitude and willingness to support the team.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural hotel environment.
