Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Laundry Supervisor and in accordance with established Rixos Hotel Policies and Procedures, the Laundry Attendant is responsible for carrying out daily laundry and dry-cleaning operations. The role ensures proper handling, cleaning, care, and distribution of linen and uniforms while maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety, efficiency, and teamwork within the Laundry Department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Laundry Operations

  • Perform all laundry and dry-cleaning tasks in accordance with hotel standards and procedures.
  • Follow established linen and uniform laundry flows, washing cycles, and operational instructions.
  • Demonstrate full knowledge of textile types and appropriate care methods.
  • Operate laundry machines and equipment correctly, ensuring proper use, care, and basic maintenance.
  • Handle, store, and use laundry chemicals safely and accurately, following approved formulas and health & safety regulations.
  • Immediately report any equipment malfunction, operational issues, or linen/uniform damage to the supervisor.

Quality, Hygiene & Safety

  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of all laundry work areas and storage rooms.
  • Ensure proper handling and reporting of lost and found items.
  • Adhere strictly to hygiene, fire safety, health, and workplace safety standards at all times.
  • Participate in monthly inventories and follow daily operational checklists.

Guest Service & Communication

  • Respect Rixos telephone etiquette standards when handling calls.
  • Report all guest comments, feedback, or complaints promptly to the supervisor.
  • Read, complete, and maintain accurate laundry logbooks and operational reports.

Compliance & Standards

  • Comply with Rixos policies, procedures, SOPs, and local legislation.
  • Adhere to the ISO Integrated Management System requirements, including Quality, Environment, Health & Safety, Food Safety, Risk Management, and Customer Complaint Handling (ISO 9001, 14001, 22000, 10002).
  • Actively participate in sustainability initiatives, including energy and water conservation, pollution prevention, and continuous improvement programs.

OTHER DUTIES

  • Report for duty punctually, wearing the correct uniform and name tag, and maintain high standards of personal grooming and hygiene.
  • Provide friendly, courteous, and professional service at all times.
  • Maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and other departments.
  • Read and comply with the Employee Handbook and all hotel rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by carrying out other reasonable duties within job capability or redeployment as required to meet business and guest service needs.
  • Attend training sessions and departmental meetings as required.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate in Hospitality or a related vocational field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in Laundry operations within a 4–5 star hotel or resort environment is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of laundry equipment, textile care, and chemical handling.
