Job Description

Host - TEMPORARY
 

You are the beginning and the end of an exceptional guest experience in our pop up bar located inside the Castle in the City. As a Host, you will make our guests feel welcome from the moment they arrive. Joins us! Turn moments into memories and grow your career at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.

This is a temporary role starting October 11, 2024 until January 1st 2025.

Shifts are Tuesday through till Saturday, starting at 17:00 until 23:00.

.What you will be doing:

  • Consistently offering a professional and friendly greeting, and provide proactive and engaging guest service
  • Assisting guests with menu items in an informative, engaging and helpful way
  • Supporting colleagues during service to ensure a consistent guest experience throughout restaurant, including running food, refreshing beverages, cleaning and resetting tables
  • Having full knowledge of beverage lists and promotions, menu items and preparation methods
  • Handling guest concerns swiftly and graciously, offering a remarkable recovery and a commitment to always improve
  • Being aware of guests’ dietary restrictions and allergies and ensuring proper communication between team
  • Being knowledgeable of current promotions and loyalty program offerings
  • Following all outlet policies, procedures and service standards
  • Following all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • Service focused personality is essential and previous experience working in a high-volume restaurant is preferred
  • OpenTable knowledge is an asset
  • Previous experience working in a luxury hotel environment an asset
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities at once
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Highly responsible and reliable with impeccable grooming and professionalism
  • Knowledge of wine, spirits, beer, cocktails, and specialty coffees an asset
  • Valid Serving It Right Certification
  • Ability to work fluctuating schedule, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and rotating shifts
  • Ability to speak and understand English with professional working proficiency
  • Successful applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada; Hotel is unable to assist applicants in obtaining Canadian work authorization

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to): 

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Frequent ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 30lbs
  • Occasional kneeling, pushing and pulling

Additional Information

Visa Requirements:
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
