Job Description

Head Gardener

The focus of this role is the displaying of plants / garden material to a high aesthetic level throughout the Hotel and Golf Course, including preparing a design and planting schedule for all areas.

Salary Range: $65,000 - $70,000 gross annually, based on previous experience and education

This is a full-time, permanent position, beginning in March 2026.

Job Duties Include:

  • Responsible for the ordering of plant/garden material and tools from various suppliers
  • Planning schedule for Summer and Spring planting
  • Conduct the training, coaching and supervision of the Gardening team.
  • Assist in maximizing the productivity and consistency of the Gardening Team
  • Schedule Gardening Team in accordance with budgeted Labor levels
  • Assist the Golf Superintendent to communicate any and all Corporate, Hotel, Divisional, and Departmental initiatives and standards through individual and team meetings and interactions
  • Become the benchmark for your team by leading by example, rewarding and motivating your team and developing them into future leaders of the Gardening Industry and/or Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.
  • Liaise with Golf Superintendent and Golf Course team
  • Snow Removal duties throughout the Winter seasons

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience in a Gardening / Horticultural position
  • Previous experience Supervising/Managing a team of colleagues
  • A valid BC Driver’s license with a clean record is required
  • Diploma in a recognized Horticultural program is an asset
  • Experience in a large complex garden facility is an asset
