Mercure Canberra is one of the city’s first established hotels, combining old-world charm with modern comforts. The hotel is located moments from the CBD, as well as the National Convention Centre and Australian War Memorial.

You will be assisting the Department Manager in maintaining the building, plant, equipment, fixtures and fittings of the Hotel. You will be working as part of our Maintenance Team to ensure that the Hotel remains a functional, pleasant and safe environment for all guests, visitors and team members. This is a casual position.

Main responsibilities of this job include:

• Carry out maintenance requirements and following up as scheduled by the property's Property Management System.
• Assist in keeping up to date records on the repair and maintenance of plant and equipment.
• Liaise with supervisors/managers/contractors regarding all work in guest rooms and public areas to ensure out of order areas of the hotel are brought back into use as soon as possible.
• Complete daily plant rounds and note for repair any equipment that may appear or sound faulty.

• Previous experience in general building maintenance.
• It would be an advantage if you have previously worked in hotels/resort/hospitality settings.
• Experienced in operating a variety of equipment & tools.
• Be customer focused.
• Have great attention to detail.
