Job Description

  • Conduct checks and remove any fire hazard that is found in the premises
  • Test the fire safety systems to ensure that they are in good operating condition and oversee the maintenance of the systems
  • Prepare and formulate a fire emergency plan for the Hotel. Organize regular fire drills in order to ensure that all staff in the Hotel are familiar with all means of escape in case of fire. Evaluate the evacuation procedures
  • Educate employees in establishing a fire safe environment. Train employees in basic firefighting and rescue as well as ensuring that there are sufficient qualified First Aiders in the Hotel
  • Set up a fire safety committee made up of suitable staff of various departments
  • Prepare and formulate fire safety guidebooks for the Hotel
  • Enforce fire safety rules as stipulated in the fire emergency plan
  • Put up reports to the management on the fire safety of the Hotel
  • Liaise and coordinate with the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) on all matters relating to fire safety and its requirements
  • Ensure that the number of persons in any part of the Hotel does not exceed the authorized maximum number of persons for whom means of escape have been provided in accordance with the fire code
  • Supervise firefighting and evacuation in the event of fire or other emergencies
  • Update Director of Security constantly on all matters of security interest affecting the Hotel and the Department
  • Always be on-call, including off-duty hours, for any emergency that may arise
  • Train and appoint a responsible person to take over duties in his/her absence
  • Comply with hotel and department policies and procedures at all times

Other Responsibilities

  • Be fully conversant with hotel fire & life safety/emergency procedures
  • Comply with hotel and department policies and procedures at all time
  • Attend all briefings, meetings and trainings as assigned by management
  • Report for duty on time wearing clean and complete uniform at all times
  • Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times
  • Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the Management of the Hotel

Qualifications

  • Secondary / High school education
  • Certificates in Fire Safety Management (Commercial Building), National Skills Recognition System, CPR and First Aid Management

Additional Information

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity
  • Good reading, writing and oral proficiency in English language
