Job Description

Assists the General Manager by overseeing, coordinating and directing the accounting and financial reporting activities of the Department Team and the hotel.

The Financial Controller is the custodian of the financial management system and the hotel budgets. He/she supervises the setting up and effective managing of the Accounting, Budgeting, and Financial Control systems. The Financial Controller manages daily cash usage.

This role works closely with the relevant Department Teams to achieve sound financial accountability throughout the operation. This role also ensures that suppliers are paid within the agreed specification to ensure consistency of supply thereby making sure that guests receive exceptional levels of personalised service always.  

The role reports on weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial performance and recommends operational actions to improve the financial position of the business. The Financial Controller coaches’ senior managers on Financial Management approaches and language.


Qualifications

  • A recognised Degree or higher in Accounting
  • 5 years of previous experience in overseeing the financial operations of a Luxury Hotel
  • Proficient user of Accounting Software packages
  • Knowledgeable user of OPERA PMS
  • Proficient user of Sage 300
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office software applications
  • Vast knowledge of South African Accounting standards
  • High degree of confidentiality and protection of sensitive information
