Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Duty Manager to join our team at Grand Mercure Mysore, India. As a Duty Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing daily operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, and maintaining the highest standards of service in our establishment.

  • Manage and supervise front office staff, including reception, administration, and data management teams
  • Ensure prompt, cordial attention and personal recognition for all guests, with special focus on VIPs and repeat visitors
  • Maximize occupancy, revenue, and average room rates while maintaining high service standards
  • Collaborate with Housekeeping to maintain room quality and ensure timely preparation
  • Liaise with various departments to meet special guest needs and requests
  • Implement and monitor credit policies and procedures in coordination with the Finance Department
  • Analyze computer reports and compile relevant statistics for the front office
  • Conduct regular inspections of lobby, reception, and VIP rooms to maintain cleanliness and orderliness
  • Prepare efficient work schedules for front office staff, considering occupancy forecasts and group movements
  • Ensure staff adherence to conduct, dress code, and appearance standards
  • Assist in budget preparation and management for the front office department
  • Implement and enforce health and safety policies and procedures
  • Resolve guest complaints and address issues promptly and professionally
  • Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to front office team members

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Tourism, or related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in hotel operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Proven experience in managing multi-cultural teams
  • In-depth knowledge of front office operations and hospitality industry standards
  • Proficiency in Opera Property Management System or similar hotel management software
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Financial management acumen, including budgeting and revenue optimization
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences
  • Adaptability to changing work environments and ability to make quick, informed decisions
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with various departments
