Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Dive Instructor to join our team in Kooddoo, Maldives. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality diving instruction to guests of varying skill levels while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism. You will guide divers through the stunning coral reefs and marine ecosystems of the Maldives, creating memorable underwater experiences while ensuring all participants receive comprehensive training and support.
- Conduct diving lessons and certifications for students at all levels, from beginners to advanced divers, following established PADI or equivalent standards
- Perform thorough pre-dive briefings, covering dive site conditions, safety procedures, marine life awareness, and emergency protocols
- Demonstrate proper diving techniques, equipment usage, and underwater navigation to ensure student competency and confidence
- Monitor diver safety throughout all dives, maintaining appropriate group sizes and responding promptly to any emergencies or concerns
- Maintain detailed records of student progress, certifications, and diving logs in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Inspect and maintain diving equipment, including tanks, regulators, and buoyancy compensators, ensuring all gear meets safety standards
- Educate divers about marine conservation, local reef ecosystems, and responsible diving practices specific to Maldivian waters
- Provide personalized feedback and guidance to help divers improve their skills and achieve their diving goals
- Collaborate with resort staff and dive operations management to coordinate schedules, manage bookings, and optimize dive site utilization
- Respond to guest inquiries and concerns with professionalism and enthusiasm, enhancing overall customer satisfaction
Qualifications
- Valid PADI Divemaster certification or equivalent (IDC, SSI, or NAUI)
- Minimum 2 years of professional diving instruction experience
- Advanced Open Water Diver certification or higher
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Excellent swimming ability with demonstrated comfort and confidence in water
- Strong knowledge of marine life, reef ecosystems, and underwater environments
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively with diverse groups
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding underwater activities
- Detail-oriented approach to safety protocols and procedural compliance
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays
- Preferred: Specialty diving certifications (Nitrox, Deep Diving, Rescue Diver, or similar)
- Preferred: Prior experience working in resort or liveaboard diving operations
- Preferred: Multilingual capabilities
- Preferred: Experience with underwater photography or videography
- Preferred: Familiarity with Maldivian dive sites and local marine regulations
