Job Description

Overseeing of the entire operation of the stewarding department. Leading, coaching, and organizing of the supervisory committee and employees within the stewarding department. He/she will have direct and effective communication with all hotel departments, particularly the departments within the F&B division.

  • Direct supervision of all supervisors as well as training, performance management, scheduling and assigning of daily duties and projects
  • Ensuring the highest quality of cleanliness and organization in all food service areas and service equipment
  • Follow all local health and safety rules as outlined by the department and the hotel.
  • Provides leadership in food safety across all Food & Beverage operations as Team Lead and Hygiene Champion, ensuring strict adherence to EHC Food Safety compliance requirements and daily completion of processes..
  • Monitoring as well as controlling the operational budget, labour costs, equipment and supply requisition
  • Complete knowledge of the Union agreement and labour regulations.  Administer coaching, counseling and corrective action accordingly
  • Responsible for the hiring within the department
  • Liaise with outside contractors and 3rd parties regarding machine maintenance, night cleaning and pest elimination.
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills with both internal teams and external guests.
  • In charge of all the purchasing of glass, china, silverware for the food and beverage department. Ability to develop comprehensive CAPEX plans for assigned areas, ensuring all required upgrades are strategically identified, properly budgeted, and effectively implemented
  • Process requests from kitchen, banquets and all outlets within Food and Beverage.
  • Collaborates with Engineering to schedule and execute regular walkthroughs, ensuring all kitchen and stewarding areas are in proper working condition.
  • Ensure a safe working environment in accordance with the legislation, hotel policies and best practice.
  • Schedule supervisors to ensure optimum service in all the food and beverage areas
  • Understand the hotel recycling program, policies and procedures and actively participates and encourages all staff to follow through.
  • Supports and actively contributes to sustainability initiatives, with a strong focus on minimizing food waste across all Food & Beverage operations.
  • Foster a culture of high performing and highly engaged colleagues and leaders

Qualifications

  • 3 year management experience in food and beverage related operations, particularly stewarding
  • University/College background in hospitality management preferred
  • Must have a thorough understanding of employee relations, labour laws, and how they apply in a unionized environment
  • Must be results oriented, very organized, highly motivated and able to work under pressure
  • Must be committed to and have a full understanding of the health and safety practices in the workplace
  • Must be certified in WHMIS
  • Thorough mechanical/equipment maintenance knowledge an asset
  • Familiar with environmental programs

Additional Information

  • The Ontario base salary range for this position is $84,00 - 98,000. Our salary ranges are determined by job and level. Within the range, individual compensation is determined by job-related skills and knowledge, relevant experience and/or work location.
