Director of Sales

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general guidance and supervision of the Director of Sales & Marketing, and within the limits of established Corporate/Sales policies and procedures, oversees and directs all aspects of the Sales activities. Responsibilities include overseeing the planning and development of promotional strategies; key role is to bring business to the resort with good occupancy and high yield.  The Director of Sales will accomplish this through managing all the key accounts and all other sales activities. Promotes the work culture and the company’s core values.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

 

 Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

 

  1. To maximize rooms revenue and profit through pro-active selling techniques and provide the highest standards of service levels
  2. To provide a point of contact for all inquiries and associated processes within unit from key sales, marketing and PR channels.
  3. To be the point of contact for all local and international operators in Maldives through the Male Office of the resort.
  4. To develop and foster business through pro-active direct sales, marketing, telemarketing, direct mail, appointment calls and tours of the hotel.
  5. Develops strategic action plans for hotels to drive measurable, incremental sales revenue.
  6. Identify areas of opportunity in performance and recommend tools and sales training to optimize performance of sales team. Additionally work with individual resort teams to identify skill development areas and properly deploy sales and marketing resources.
  7. Working closely with the General Manager, Director of Sales & Marketing, Reservations & Revenue Team.
  8. Dealing with Tour Operators, Local DMCs, Corporate Companies, PR channels
  9. Taking direct bookings
  10. Site inspections
  11. External callers
  12. Analyse current and potential market/trends, coordinates all activities to maintain and increase revenue through added business volume and increase rate
  13. Procure new and repeat business for the resort by monitoring contact with travel agencies, tour operators, airlines, commercial houses and professional associations with local and international markets.
  14. Attain contracting with key travel partners, wholesalers, planners, corporate accounts, incentive buyers through personal sales calls, telephone contacts and written communications
  15. Create and implement special programmes to achieve greater productivity through:
    • Increasing average rate
    • Increasing occupancy
    • Increasing business volume during low seasons
    • Increasing events and weddings
  16. Manages key accounts
  17. Co-ordinate the development of all promotional materials
  18. Provide direction on the conducts market research
  19. Monitors competitive activities
  20. Ensures the resort is represented as an active member of the local community through association membership
  21. To plan and attend trade and road shows in key market areas
  22. Attends major travel functions to promote sales for resort
  23. Arrange familiarization trips and site inspection.
  24. Liaise with global sales representative
  25. Establish and continuous update database and mailing list
  26. Conduct weekly reviews of sales activity to ensure targets and sales objectives are being met
  27. Sales presentation update and training within resort when required
  28. Manage the Sales team and their performance

Qualifications

  1. College Diploma is essential
  2. Bachelor Degree is desirable
  3.   Previous experience in luxury hotel/resort is essential
  4. Strong leadership, ability to train and motivate team.
  5. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Excellent communication and customer contact skills.
  6. Results and service oriented with an eye for details.
  7. Ability to multi-task, work well in stressful & high-pressure situations. A team player & builder and a motivator & self-starter.
  8. Excellent communication skills, interpersonal relationship, and time management skills.
  9. Strong and outgoing personality and exceptional negotiation skills.
  10. Previous experience in Sales essential
  11. Previous experience in Marketing is desirable
  12. Fluency in English both spoken and written is essential
  13.   Computer Literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook are essential
  14. Fidelio, Opera, CRM experience is desirable
  15. Exposure to Multi Task environment is desirable
  16. Exceptional in Numbers and Statistics is desirable
