Job Description

We are looking for a Leader with energy, enthusiasm and creativity to lead our Resort Activity team.  This individual will ensure we deliver on the promise and experience of Lake Louise.  Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Director of Resort Activities will oversee all elements of hotel Programming (including Kids programming), Boathouse rentals, Winter rental shop, guiding program and XC ski track setting and have oversight to the Health Club & Pool.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Lead the overall strategic vision of resort activation and animation driving a balanced scorecard across all KPI’s.
  • Responsible for the operation of the Health Club & Pool, and year-round kids programming
  • Responsible for the development and execution of the seasonal offerings (i.e. summer operation of the Boathouse, winter rental shop, year-round guiding program, group segment programming)
  • Responsible for the winter cross country ski program
  • Responsible for the coordination of track setting for the cross-country ski program and coordinating the resources to ensure 17 km’s of responsibility is maintained to standards
  • Recruitment, selection and training of Dept. Managers, Supervisors and wider team members
  • Champions and oversees all Festive programming including coordination of the decoration of the hotel
  • Responsible for planning, organizing, directing and implementing seasonal special events
  • Ensuring all activities are licensed correctly and that all outdoor activities follow the national park regulations and the resort business license
  • Work with the Concierge team to promote and sell resort activities; including the promotion of activities throughout the hotel through effective communication
  • Work closely with the Director of Wellness to ensure all elements of the resort wellness strategy are upheld in all RA activities
  • Develop strong relationships with our Sales, Conference Services and Public Relations team to develop programs and ensure their success
  • Creation of forecasts for the Health Club & Pool and Resort Activities departments, including assisting with revenues, forecast expenses, staffing levels and productivity.
  • Maximization of revenues and effective cost control; assisting with tracking of revenues and statistics
  • Complete month end duties including accruals in a timely and accurate manner
  • Establish and monitor effective goals and measurements for the department’s KPI
  • Review industry trends for new and innovative product and service opportunities
  • Ensure that Guest and Colleague concerns are resolved in a professional and timely manner
  • Coach and mentor colleagues, creating an empowered environment that allows colleagues to exceed guest expectations and that provides a path for career development
  • Responsible for crisis management and BCP plans for the department and ensuring all team members are adequately trained
  • Make recommendations for capital expenditure.
  • Effective and timely interaction with all hotel departments including participation and representation in hotel wide meetings /committees as required.
  • Execute health & safety mandate including WCB policies and practices. Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the hotel health and safety program.
  • Adhere to all environmental policies and programs as required.
  • Departmental payroll administration.
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, holidays as required for appropriate support to the Resort Activities team
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • University/College degree or related schooling associated with recreation, education, entertainment or related field of study an asset
  • Guest service and training experience required
  • Energy, enthusiasm and passion for adventure focused activities for hotel guests including children
  • Experience in programming, guiding, strongly preferred
  • Experience working in a national park preferred
  • Operational knowledge of Outlook, teams, Excel, PowerPoint helpful
  • Organizational skills to ensure effective tracking and follow up when planning, organizing and directing special events
  • Proven ability to effectively lead, teach, coach and inspire your team
  • Highly motivated, organized, goal and results oriented individual who thrives under pressure.
  • MPHIA accreditation an asset
  • CANSI Level 1 an asset
