Job Description

Reporting to the Portfolio General Manager for Capitaland, we are currently seeking a Director of Engineering to join our dynamic professional team. This role is suitable for an astute & experienced operational professional, who understands the intrinsic nature of an established building & the requirements of a 5 star property.    

What is the role all about:

  • Leading and developing a team of maintenance professionals
  • Leading a team to plan and carry out preventative maintenance and general repairs throughout the hotel to ensure standards are maintained for guest comfort
  • Designing and implementing solutions to improve energy management and conservation
  • Contractor negotiations
  • ESG Management
  • Ensuring the hotel upholds OH&S and fire safety responsibilities
  • Audit reporting and monthly maintenance reporting
  • Ensure the quality of records for repair work and daily checks as required by local
  • Council & Government specifications
  • Liaising closely with other departments to ensure minimal impact of repairs and maintenance on operations
  • Researching, recommending and liaising with the Portfolio General Manager regarding procedures to improve the overall efficiency of the department
  • Carrying out project work as required and/or as required
  • Prepare and submit & manage capex proposals

Qualifications

  • A relevant tertiary qualification is essential
  • Experience in leading a team
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Experience in management of a maintenance function within a large multistorey complex.
  • Exceptional organisational skills as well as the ability to multi task.
  • The ability to carry out emergency maintenance works outside of normal working hours, in the event of a full power failure, evacuation fire system re-set and/or failure of mechanical systems.
  • A hands on approach to solving problems
