Commis Chef

Ibis Melbourne Glen Waverley is situated 25 minutes east of Melbourne CBD and it offers 155 rooms, Ibis Kitchen & Bar, and 4 flexible meeting rooms catering from 4 delegates up to 120 delegates. Our hotel is the gateway to the magnificent Dandenong Ranges, Yarra Valley Food & Wine District, the Mornington Peninsula and Phillip Island.

We are looking for a talented professional who is passionate about creating memorable culinary experiences, and developing a team of upcoming chefs. You will support the Kitchen team and ensuring our guests have memorable experiences when dining with us. Key duties include:

• Preparation and cooking for buffet breakfast, a la carte dinner, room service and conferences and events
• Work closely with senior chefs to develop your culinary skills
• Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards in the kitchen
• Help with food preparation, plating, and garnishing
• Learn and follow recipes, contributing to the creation of new ones
• Ensure strict stock rotation and minimum wastage

• Completion of a Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery
• Previous kitchen experience or culinary training is a plus
• Enthusiasm for cooking and a strong desire to learn and grow
• Ability to work well in a team and handle a fast-paced kitchen
• Attention to detail and a commitment to food safety
• Willingness to work flexible hours including mornings, nights, weekends and holidays periods
