Job Description

At Pastore, Hotel Chadstone’s signature modern Italian restaurant, guests enjoy a dining experience that blends Italian tradition with Melbourne creativity. Every dish tells a story, and every detail reflects genuine care.

We are looking for a passionate and motivated Commis Chef to join our kitchen team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an emerging chef who is eager to learn, refine their craft, and grow their career within a luxury hospitality environment.

Working alongside experienced chefs, you will gain hands on experience preparing high quality dishes while developing the skills and discipline required to succeed in a professional kitchen.

What you will be doing...

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of dishes to maintain Pastore’s high culinary standards
  • Support senior chefs with daily mise en place and service preparation
  • Maintain exceptional hygiene, organisation, and cleanliness within the kitchen
  • Follow recipes and brand standards to ensure consistency and quality
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to deliver smooth and efficient service
  • Learn new techniques and develop your culinary skills under the guidance of senior chefs
  • Support stock rotation and basic inventory management practices
  • Maintain attention to detail in food preparation, presentation, and kitchen organisation

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Commis Chef or kitchen assistant in a professional kitchen
  • A genuine passion for cooking and learning the craft of Italian cuisine
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn from senior chefs
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced kitchen environment
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Availability to work across a rotating roster including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
