We are seeking a talented and passionate Commis 1- Tandoor Cuisine to join our culinary team in Mysuru, India. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will specialize in tandoor cooking techniques and contribute to the preparation of authentic Indian cuisine, with a focus on local Mysuru flavors.
- Assist the Chef de Partie in the tandoor section of the kitchen
- Prepare and cook various tandoor dishes, including breads, meats, and vegetables
- Maintain and operate the tandoor oven, ensuring proper temperature control and cooking times
- Follow recipes and portion controls to ensure consistency in food quality and presentation
- Assist in the preparation of marinades, spice blends, and accompaniments for tandoor dishes
- Collaborate with other kitchen sections to ensure timely food service
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
- Participate in kitchen inventory management and stock rotation
- Assist in menu development and the creation of new tandoor dishes
- Support senior kitchen staff in daily operations and special events
- Diploma in Culinary Arts or equivalent culinary education preferred
- Previous experience in a professional kitchen, particularly with Indian cuisine, is advantageous
- Proficiency in tandoor oven operation and cooking techniques
- Strong knife skills and in-depth knowledge of Indian spices and ingredients
- Thorough understanding of food safety, hygiene practices, and relevant health regulations
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and work in a hot kitchen environment
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Familiarity with local Mysuru ingredients and cooking styles is a plus
- Passion for Indian cuisine and a commitment to culinary excellence
- Willingness to learn, grow, and adapt in a dynamic culinary environment
- Basic English language skills for effective communication in a diverse kitchen setting
