Featuring 228 impressive and tastefully designed rooms and suites on level 38 and upwards, with amazing view of Kuala Lumpur’s iconic skyline from the rooms.
We are seeking a highly organized and efficient Chief Steward to join our team in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As the leader of our stewarding department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and equipment maintenance to support our food and beverage operations.
- Lead and manage the stewarding team, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation
- Oversee daily operations of the stewarding department, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality results
- Develop and implement cleaning schedules for all kitchen areas, equipment, and dining facilities
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, tableware, and kitchen equipment
- Coordinate with other departments to support smooth food and beverage operations
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation standards
- Implement and maintain quality control measures for cleanliness and hygiene
- Oversee maintenance and repair of kitchen equipment
- Manage department budget and control costs
- Conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions to improve team performance
- Collaborate with the culinary team to support efficient kitchen operations
- Implement and monitor environmentally friendly practices in the stewarding department
- Proven leadership experience in a similar role within the hospitality or food service industry
- Strong knowledge of food and beverage operations, with a focus on stewarding
- Excellent understanding of food safety regulations and sanitation standards, including familiarity with local Malaysian regulations
- HACCP certification or equivalent food safety qualification
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities
- Demonstrated experience in team management, including coaching and training
- Proficiency in inventory management and budget control
- Working knowledge of GHS (Globally Harmonized System) regulations for chemical handling
- Competent in using Microsoft Office suite and other relevant software
- Problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with sustainability initiatives in food service operations (preferred)
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Malay or other local languages is a plus
