Job Description

Preparing repair & maintenance, heat, light & power budgets.Studying carefully the previous year actual expenses.Analyzing any abnormal deviation of previous year expensesStudying market prices and inflation of ratesRequesting current prices for materials and partsAnalyzing previous year energy consumption & costStudying reasons for abnormal consumptionConsidering the expenses to match standard % to revenueConsidering all mentioned items when budgeting
Preparing & following up on Preventive maintenance programsConsidering the instructions of the manufacturer manualsAdjusting the intervals according to recommendationsExplaining those instructions to the technicians (Training)Preparing the working sheets ( kept in Chief Engineer office )Distributing copies according intervalsObserving performing the programsInsuring reporting un-maintained items on timeFiling the actual performed sheets
Dealing with outside contractorsSurveying for dealing with the best contractorsGetting more offers for best quality and cost selectionsSelecting good reputation companiesObserving the assigned contractors performancesInsuring the contractors sticking to hotel policiesInforming the concerned of contractors works for securityObserving the maintenance contractors performanceReporting the contracts situations to GM > Monthly
Observing the engineering storesInsuring the proper storing of itemsObserving the stocks balancesSpecial care for minimum stock levelsRegular checking of stocks cardsRegular checking of rates consumptionAnalysis of abnormal consumption for correctionObserving slow moving items for correctionInsuring issuing purchase requests properly and on time
Supervising the training of the staffObserving the previous year staff week pointsPreparing the annual training plan accordinglyChecking sessions performed by Asst. Chief EngineerPerforming additional training if any negatives observedMatching the training with the P. maintenance observationAdditional cross training- other dept. if needed (mis-use)Reporting the training activities to the General Manager.
Reporting and advising the General Manager any serious mattersReporting any matter affecting the building safetyReporting any matter affecting guest & staff safetyRecommending introduction to new safety techniquesReporting any serious equipment mis-handled by other departmentsAdvising of matters saving any operation expensesReporting any energy shortage problemsReporting any maintenance contractor in-fulfillment
Preparing the F.F.&E BudgetReviewing equipment conditions (life time & performance)Feed back from other departments (complaints & requirements )Determining priorities for reasonable budgetSurveying prices for budget estimationReporting the items and budgets to the General Manager for approvalGetting offers for selection upon approvalRe-adjusting actual prices exceeding the estimated.Proceeding in purchasing.
Handling Staff MattersHiring new suitable staffEvaluating staff performancePlanning annual vacationsPerforming and observing staff trainingSatisfying staff needs (team & individuals )Considering personal life affecting the performanceAnalyzing negative attitudes for correctionsMotivating, rewarding and promoting recommendations
Co-ordination with Financial Controller in finance mattersCo-operation in preparing R&M and L&P expenses budgetAnalyzing any deviation in actual R&N and L&P expensesDiscussing end of month stores inventory commentsMutual checking of department cash flow implementationHandling payment procedures for contracting worksDiscussing energy costsMutual checking of abnormal PR (Quantities and Prices)Co-operation in implementing FF&E, budget wise.
Observing the hotel industrial safety equipment functionsClose communication with industrial safety departmentSecuring all hotel areas, fire fighting wisePeriodic checking and operating of fire pumpObserving fire sensors periodic checkingImplementing industrial safety committee recommendationsRecommending any advanced safety techniquesReporting to the General Manager of any safety equipment malfunctioning.
Perform other duties as may be assigned


Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering .

• Minimum 5 - 10  years of relevant experience in a similar capacity
