Job Description

  • $30.66 per hour
  • Minimum 30 hours per week guaranteed

Situated on a unique vantage point with breath taking views over Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables Mountain range, our resort offers 148 guests rooms with either spectacular lake or relaxing garden views.  We have two restaurants; Rises Restaurant offers a hearty alpine buffet breakfast every day and South Eatery Restaurant, a la carte dining, featuring the best of Central Otago seasonal menus and wines. A lounge bar, room service and conferencing, completes our Food and Beverage offerings. 

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Chef de Partie to join our talented Kitchen brigade.  In this position you will be is responsible for managing a designated section of the kitchen, ensuring smooth service operations while maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, and cooking techniques in accordance with established recipes and guidelines.  The key responsibilities of the role includes:

 

  • Oversee an assigned section of the kitchen, ensuring smooth, efficient, and productive operations.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen sections to promote flexibility, teamwork, and overall kitchen efficiency.
  • Prepare and cook all dishes with precision, urgency, and consistency, adhering to established recipes and quality standards.
  • Ensure all food handling, storage, and preparation comply with current food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic work area, meeting all health and safety requirements.
  • Monitor daily kitchen stock levels, anticipate food and product requirements, and communicate needs to the supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Control food preparation costs and minimise waste by following efficient cooking methods and standardised recipes.
  • Ensure buffet stations are consistently well-presented, stocked, and aligned with guest demand.
  • Assist with conference and event catering, ensuring seamless execution of food service.

Qualifications

About you

  • You are qualified chef with a minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role. 
  • You have creativity and flair in menu development and demonstrate a high standard in food preparation.
  • You have well developed organisational skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • You are a team player with good communication, interpersonal and engagement skills. 
  • Previous experience working in a commercial hotel kitchen will be advantageous.
