As a Casual Conference & Banqueting Waitress/Waiter, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional service to guests attending conferences, meetings, private dining, and banqueting events at Sofitel London St James. You will ensure that all events are set up to the highest standards, provide attentive and professional food and beverage service, and maintain the luxury brand experience that Sofitel is renowned for. This position is casual, offering flexibility in working hours based on business needs.
Responsibilities:
Provide courteous, professional, and efficient food & beverage service during conferences, meetings, and banqueting events.
Assist with the setup and breakdown of function rooms, including arranging tables, chairs, linen, crockery, cutlery, and equipment as per event specifications.
Ensure all service areas, equipment, and function spaces are kept clean, tidy, and well-presented at all times.
Welcome guests with warmth and professionalism, ensuring a luxury experience throughout the event.
Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly to requests in line with Sofitel service standards.
Serve meals, snacks, and beverages according to event requirements, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and other hotel departments to ensure seamless event delivery.
Uphold all health, safety, and hygiene regulations, including food safety standards.
Follow departmental policies, procedures, and service standards.
Maintain flexibility and adaptability to meet the demands of a varied and fast-paced events environment.
Previous experience in hospitality, banqueting, or conference & events service is desirable.
Knowledge of food & beverage service standards, including fine dining or luxury hotel experience, is an advantage.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine passion for guest service.
Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure, maintaining a polished and confident manner.
Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and other departments.
High standards of personal presentation, reflecting Sofitel’s luxury brand image.
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
Basic knowledge of health, safety, and food hygiene practices (certification desirable).
Good command of English, both spoken and written; additional languages are highly valued.
