Job Description

 

  • Ability to interpret electrical, mechanical and building systems.
  • Ensure that all daily operations are executed by the team in a high quality and timely fashion.
  • Considerable knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems with the ability to analyze their design and performance. Considerable knowledge of construction and building systems.
  • Knowledge of landscaping
  • Ability to analyze trends in utility consumption report and predict energy forecast and to set up energy conservation programs.
  • Ability to write and communicate job functions to engineering staff.
  • Be a participating member in our committees, focusing on sustainability such as Planet21 and become fully familiar with the hotel’s sustainability and technical platform.
  • Ability to perform duties in confined space and in awkward positions.
  • Ability to remain calm in emergency situations and to effectively deal with internal and external customers.
  • Assist with disciplining, counseling and training Engineering staff.
  • Communicates effectively with government officials to ensure proper maintenance of permits and license, coordinating inspections with the appropriate departments.
  • Acts as a liaison between hotel and vendors to review latest in hotel technology and products. 
  • Complete payroll in a timely fashion
  • Assist with the departmental recruitment process and make recommendations for hire.
  • Drive the implementation and effective use of the inventory management system.
  • Work closely with all departments in order to ensure that all requirements are executed in a timely fashion and lead to internal and external guest satisfaction.
  • Assist with departmental accruals, forecasting and budgeting.
  • Attends Engineering conventions to educate self in latest products to be used in the hotel to increase guest satisfaction, enhance safety and reduce costs.
  • Manage projects involving electrical, mechanical and general construction, repair and maintenance of existing facilities and equipment, operation of plant utilities.
  • Ensure that quality control checks have been completed and approved prior to sign off on any project.
  • Knowledgeable of health and safety procedures and requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as requested by management.

 

 


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Facilities Management or
  • Bachelor's Degree or Associate degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

  • Physically active and can push, pull, carry items up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to effectively handle competing demands via prioritising.
  • Excellent organization skills along with effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem solving abilities
  • Exceptional relationship building skills
  • At least three years' experience would be an asset
  • Must be legally able to work in Barbados
