Job Description

The Assistant Executive Housekeeper helps lead the Housekeeping department so that guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house areas meet the hotel's luxury standards for cleanliness, presentation and guest experience. They run daily operations, lead and develop the team, and take charge of the department when the Executive Housekeeper is away.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily housekeeping work across guest rooms, suites, public areas, laundry and linen rooms
  • Make sure brand and luxury standards and LQA) are followed consistently
  • Do regular room and area inspections and fix any gaps quickly
  • Plan staff schedules, room assignments and labour costs based on occupancy
  • Recruit, train, coach and assess supervisors, room attendants and public area staff
  • Handle VIP arrivals, special guest requests and guest complaints personally
  • Manage stock of linen, guest amenities, cleaning chemicals and equipment
  • Help prepare and monitor the department budget, and control costs
  • Work with Front Office, Engineering and F&B so rooms are ready on time and maintenance issues are fixed
  • Make sure health, safety, hygiene and environmental rules are followed
  • Support sustainability work, such as cutting down on waste, water and chemical use
  • Lead the department when the Executive Housekeeper is absent

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management or a related field
  • At least 3–5 years of housekeeping experience, including 2 or more years as a supervisor or manager in a 5-star or luxury hotel
  • Strong knowledge of luxury service standards and attention to detail
  • Experience with property management and housekeeping systems such as Opera, Future Log
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
  • Good English, both spoken and written (other languages are a plus)
