Job Description

As the Assistant Executive Housekeeper at Pullman Cairns International, you play a pivotal role in supporting the leadership of our housekeeping team, ensuring every detail contributes to a seamless and exceptional 5-star guest experience. Collaborating with the Executive Housekeeper, you’ll help maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, comfort, and efficiency throughout the hotel.

In this key role, you will provide hands-on leadership, guiding and developing our housekeeping team, supporting operational excellence, and driving continuous improvement. Your focus will be on delivering outstanding service that exceeds guest expectations while helping meet business objectives. You will also be able to deputize in the Executive Housekeeper's absence, ensuring continuity in leadership and operational standards.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Assist in managing daily housekeeping operations to ensure guest rooms and public areas meet brand, cleanliness, and safety standards
  • Oversee the activities of room attendants, housemen, public area cleaners, laundry and uniform staff, and supervisors, fostering a respectful and collaborative team environment
  • Train, mentor, and support team members to maintain high standards and encourage continuous improvement
  • Create and adjust staff rosters to meet operational needs while supporting team wellbeing
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with cleanliness, maintenance, and safety standards
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory and supplies; oversee proper use and care of cleaning equipment, including floor and carpet machines
  • Respond promptly to guest feedback to improve service quality and enhance guest satisfaction
  • Assist with budget management, review P&L statements, and liaise with vendors to ensure quality, compliance, and cost control

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

  • Relevant experience in the hotel industry, preferably within a premier or 5-star property, with a strong focus on supporting operational excellence and team leadership
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop motivated housekeeping teams to deliver outstanding results
  • Exposure to managing staff rosters, controlling costs, and contributing to budget and performance objectives
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook; practical knowledge of Opera Cloud is highly regarded
  • Cultural awareness and the ability to foster a collaborative, inclusive work environment across diverse teams
  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays, with a commitment to supporting operational needs
