Job Description

Summary of Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director of Finance & Business Support, responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Consistently offer professional, engaging and proactive guest service while supporting fellow colleagues;
  • Resolve Guest problems and never saying “no” without offering an alternative;
  • Being an ambassador for the Brand, Hotel, Community and Colleagues;
  • Being guided by Fairmont core values; respect, integrity, teamwork and empowerment
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of Finance department including accounting, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable;
  • Provide leadership, coaching and support to Finance staff, motivating and training to provide exceptional guest service;
  • Finalize monthly revenues and prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with the tight reporting deadlines;
  • Manage and control the company’s general ledger; ensure all month-end account reconciliations, account analyses and closing procedures are performed in a timely manner;
  • Provide ad hoc analyses to Hotel Executive and Department Heads, as needed;
  • Lead and coordinate annual external audit;
  • Provide oversight of Labor Management System database and support Cost Controller at weekly labor meetings with hotel leadership;
  • Monitor and manage the safe keeping of all hotel leases and contracts;
  • Assist in maintaining a system of internal controls;
  • Assist Director of Finance & Business Support with management of annual budget and monthly forecast activities;
  • Responsible for any remediation action plans as a result of all internal and external audits;
  • Ensure compliance with all corporate, hotel and departmental policies and procedures;
  • Verify the accuracy of all audit transactions, approving all rebates, allowances and adjustments, ensuring accurate daily reporting of financial information; and
  • Other duties, as required from time to time.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Professional designation or acceptable university degree with an appropriate specialization in Accounting or demonstrated experience at an equivalent position or higher;
  • Minimum of 5 years hotel accounting experience at a supervisory level is essential;
  • Experienced in all areas of finance and accounting; capital project management, financial reporting and analysis;
  • Leadership experience using accepted accounting practices and principles required and 11th Edition Lodging;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of hotel operating systems and software, including SUN, Microsoft Office, Micros Opera, and Micros POS;
  • Excellent administrative, interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills; and
  • The successful candidate will be highly responsible and reliable with exceptional attention to detail.
