Job Description

As Director of Finance and Business Support you will drive the finance function of the hotel.  

Reporting into the Director if Finance and Business Support, and working closely with Fairmont Corporate Finance team, you will bring your expertise to support the executive department and all operational departments in their choices, decisions and their search for quality and results, and optimising operating costs and capitalising on cross pollination of business opportunities 

Responsibilities 

Managing the finance function, finance team and purchasing. 

Preparation of monthly management accounts including Profit and Loss Account, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow, and weekly financial reports including forecasting of profits, cash and payroll.  

Preparation for audit, VAT and payroll taxes, including compliance with payment deadlines. 

Management of Income Audit, Payroll, Cash/Bank Control, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable but also contracts management. 

Ensure compliance with all departmental/company procedures and highlighting issues if necessary.  Work closely with Accor Procurement and IT teams to optimize and leverage existing platform and infrastructure.    

Ensure the accuracy and efficiency of monthly, quarterly and annual accounts closures within the deadlines set and using the tools defined by Accor. 

  

Work closely with wider hotel team to ensure a functional understanding of departmental financial reporting and other metrics including wage %, key drivers and P&Ls. 

Supervise the preparation of the financial audit and coordinate the audit process. 

 

Business Strategy 

Participate in the development of business strategy in line with the resorts vision, mission and business objectives and develop a strategy for growth across the all areas targeted within the resorts 5-year business plan. 

Business Plans, Budgets & forecast. 

Oversee and challenge the annual budget and monthly forecast in order to monitor progress and present financial metrics both internally and externally. 

 

Commercial insight 

In collaboration with the Sales and Marketing Department and the Revenue Management Department, analyse the commercial operations and competitive trends to establish tactical recommendations and strategies for the short, medium and long term    

Provide local management and the management company/owners with objective analysis of business performance, highlighting key issues and opportunities. 

Specific Business Proposals 

Assess the benefits of all prospective spends and contracts and advise the general manager and Owners on programme design and implementation matters. To the extent such proposals involve CapEX activity, legal, financial and other advisors as appropriate.

  • Effectively lead team in the development of the financial component of strategy 

 

You will have 5 years of experience in finance and be able to illustrate previous successes in a comparable luxury environment.  

You must have a graduate degree in business or equivalent together with a professional accounting qualification e.g. ACCA , CPA, with a strategic knowledge of the hospitality business and financial management. 

Previous Flag/Management company experience is a necessity – reporting in a corporate environment etc previous experience in running a Common Property Management company P&L 

You ensure a good communication of the Finance information and maintain excellent relationship and partnership with all the different hotel stakeholders (Owners, Fairmont Luxury Division, Banks etc.)  

 

Previous experience in Ireland is preferable. 

 

 


Qualifications

Graduate degree in business or equivalent together with a professional accounting qualification e.g. ACCA , CPA, with a strategic knowledge of the hospitality business and financial management.
