Job Description
We invite you to join the world of luxury hospitality at Fairmont Grand Del Mar, as our new Assistant Director of Engineering.
Responsibilities
The Assistant Director of Engineering supports the Director of Engineering in the leadership and overall operation of the Engineering department. This position is responsible for the effective maintenance, repair, and operation of the resort's building systems, utilities, mechanical equipment, and electrical controls. They will ensure compliance with all applicable safety and regulatory requirements, oversees preventive maintenance and partner with other departments to ensure a safe, efficient, and exceptional environment for guests and colleagues.
- Support the Director of Engineering in leading the maintenance and repair of the entire Resort including all electrical controls, pools, HVAC, kitchen mechanics and refrigeration. HVAC & Refrigeration, plumbing, kitchens and building automation.
- Monitor the performance of the entire Engineering staff. Prepare weekly employee schedules and project schedules.
- Assist with the administration of the departmental budget.
- Manage the energy management and mechanical systems to maximize utility savings.
- Develop and implement training for the Engineering staff. Ensure that all staff members can properly operate area related systems.
- Monitor work orders and preventative maintenance to ensure that work is properly complete and reported.
- Ensure prompt and immediate response to maintenance requests for guests and Colleagues
- Perform routine inspections and ensure that preventative maintenance programs are carried out.
- Ensure that the Engineering department is in compliance with OSHA regulations, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and safety precautions.
- Serve as the Manager on Duty (MOD) for the entire Engineering division.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business management, a related Engineering field or equivalent additional experience within a Facility Engineering Structure
- A minimum of five years Mechanical Engineering experience required
- A minimum of four years supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience in Hospitality preferred.
- Universal refrigerant certification as required by the EPA.
- Journeyman certification preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record required.
- Material Handling Equipment certification as required.
- Proven ability to supervise multiple complex projects with a focus on results
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
- Highly responsible & reliable with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
- Ability to focus attention on guest needs, always remaining calm and courteous
Wage Information
The salary for this position is $120,000 annually.
