Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Assistant Chief Engineer to join our team in Sepang, Malaysia. In this critical role, you will support the efficient operation of all resort maintenance activities, ensuring guest comfort and safety remain top priorities while contributing to our organization's commitment to excellence and sustainability.

  • Assist the Chief Engineer in managing daily operations of the Engineering Department to ensure smooth functioning of all hotel facilities
  • Oversee and implement preventive maintenance programs, guaranteeing work is carried out to the highest standards
  • Ensure proper maintenance, operation, and compliance of all fire and life safety systems and equipment
  • Support planning and execution of renovations, upgrades, and new construction projects with minimal guest disruption
  • Collaborate with the Chief Engineer in budget preparation and management, including expense forecasting and cost control
  • Contribute technical expertise to the hotel's strategic and operational planning processes
  • Monitor energy consumption and initiate sustainability initiatives to reduce the resort's environmental footprint
  • Lead and develop a team of engineering professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and service excellence
  • Analyze and optimize building systems for enhanced efficiency and performance
  • Address unique maintenance challenges associated with tropical climate conditions

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Engineering, preferably in a field related to building systems or hospitality engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role within a luxury hotel or resort environment
  • Strong technical knowledge across major hotel systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing
  • Comprehensive understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and energy management systems
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities under pressure
  • Proficiency in project management software and building management systems
  • In-depth knowledge of sustainability practices in building management
  • Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to problem-solving
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken)
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment
  • Innovative mindset with a track record of implementing efficiency improvements
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety
  • Familiarity with local building regulations in Malaysia
  • Experience addressing maintenance challenges specific to tropical climates
