Company Description

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Bars Manager to join The Hoxton Southwark team.    

The Hoxton, Southwark is our third Hox location in London, only a skip & a hop away from the South Bank. There is something for everyone: 192 rooms, Albie restaurant, The Apartment (our unique meeting & events space, a stunning roof-top restaurant and bar Seabird with indoor and outdoor seating PLUS our coworking space spread over six floors.


Job Description

What you’ll do…

  • Run a fun and fast-paced bar operation day and night, reporting directly to the Restaurant and Bars Manager
  • Be creative, share ideas, develop and implement our bar strategy – play a part in innovating our bar concept and staying ahead of trends
  • Create seasonal menus, in line with the bar’s ethos and The Hoxton brand
  • Develop a beverage programme for the bar, enabling a “destination bar” profile
  • Lead your team by example, driving service standards and encouraging growth and development
  • Train bar staff to take part in cocktail competitions
  • Know your product and systems inside out
  • Ensure all items are correctly set up on POS as well as FnBShop with the right prices and recipes
  • Own your P&L – be fully responsible for the beverage COS%
  • Carry out monthly stocktakes with full stock management accountability
  • Manage team rotas in line with business needs and labour targets, oversee shift structures and closing hours, and approve holidays ensuring adequate coverage at all times
  • Drive sales and commercial performance through strong operational control, upselling, and a focus on maximising revenue opportunities across the bar

Qualifications

What we’re looking for…

  • 2–3 years’ experience in a bar operations role with a background in cocktail menu development, ideally in a luxury or lifestyle bar environment
  • Experience with stock management
  • FnBShop literate
  • Experience dealing with brands and account managers
  • Experience with brand activations
  • A natural leader who creates an environment where people can perform at their best
  • Passion for hospitality and creating memorable experiences
  • Practical, hands-on and solutions-focused approach
  • Open to doing things differently and trying new ideas
  • A team player who works hard, supports others and contributes to a positive culture
