Job Description

The Accounting Manager / Financial Analyst is responsible for overseeing the hotel’s accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing insightful analysis to support strategic decision-making. This role combines managerial accounting oversight with financial planning and analysis to optimize the hotel’s performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Financial Reporting:

  • Manage daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with company standards and local regulations.
  • Ensure proper documentation and compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and review journal entries.

 

Financial Analysis & Planning:

  • Conduct variance analysis comparing actual results to budget, forecasts, and prior periods.
  • Assist in preparing the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to management to support operational and strategic decisions.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare management reports for department heads and senior management.

Audit & Compliance:

  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and providing necessary documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with local accounting standards, tax regulations, and corporate policies.
  • Review and maintain internal controls to mitigate financial risks.

Team Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all accounting processes.
  • Collaborate with other hotel departments (e.g., operations, sales, revenue management) to optimize financial performance.
  • Serve as a financial liaison for corporate reporting requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sun, Opera, ADP).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Competencies:

  • Experience in hotel or hospitality finance operations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Leadership abilities with the capacity to train and develop a finance team.
  • Ability to present complex financial data in a clear and concise manner.
