Job Purpose:To carry out preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and servicing of air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment throughout the hotel, ensuring optimum operational performance, guest comfort, energy efficiency and compliance with hotel engineering standards and UAE health and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of all HVAC and air-conditioning equipment.
• Maintain and troubleshoot FCUs, AHUs, split AC units, package units, ventilation systems, exhaust fans, and related equipment.
• Inspect and maintain compressors, condensers, evaporators, cooling coils, filters, belts, bearings, motors, valves, and drain systems.
• Attend to AC-related maintenance requests in guest rooms, restaurants, public areas, offices, kitchens, and back-of-house areas.
• Respond promptly to guest complaints and hotel maintenance requests related to temperature and air-conditioning.
• Diagnose HVAC and refrigeration faults and carry out necessary repairs.
• Monitor operating pressures, temperatures, airflow, and equipment performance.
• Check and maintain chilled-water systems, pumps, valves, strainers, and associated equipment.
• Maintain refrigeration equipment including cold rooms, refrigerators, freezers, and ice machines.
• Identify and report refrigerant leaks and carry out approved refrigerant recovery and charging procedures.
• Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance according to the hotel's maintenance plan.
• Complete engineering work orders and preventive maintenance checklists accurately and on time.
• Maintain proper records of equipment faults, repairs, spare parts, and maintenance activities.
• Report recurring technical problems and major equipment failures to the Engineering Supervisor.
• Assist in maintaining BMS-controlled HVAC equipment and report abnormal readings or alarms.
• Monitor HVAC equipment for abnormal noise, vibration, temperature, pressure, and energy consumption.
• Support hotel energy-saving and sustainability initiatives.
• Ensure AC temperature settings and operating schedules comply with hotel standards.
• Maintain all tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Report required spare parts, tools, and materials to the Engineering Supervisor.
• Follow all hotel Engineering SOPs, safety procedures, and permit-to-work requirements.
• Use appropriate PPE and follow safe working practices at all times.
• Follow electrical isolation, lockout/tagout, and other safety procedures where applicable.
• Handle refrigerants, chemicals, oils, and other maintenance materials safely.
• Report unsafe conditions, equipment defects, water leaks, refrigerant leaks, and other hazards immediately.
• Maintain a clean and safe working area after completing maintenance activities.
• Coordinate with Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, and other Engineering team members when required.
• Support the Engineering team during VIP arrivals, high occupancy, hotel events, and operational emergencies.
• Participate in emergency response and equipment breakdown procedures.
• Maintain professional appearance and conduct when working in guest areas.
• Minimize disturbance to guests while carrying out maintenance work.
• Maintain good communication with guests and hotel colleagues.
• Complete proper shift handover and communicate outstanding maintenance issues.
• Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by the Chief Engineer or Engineering Supervisor.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma, Certificate, or vocational qualification in HVAC, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience as an AC/HVAC Technician.
• Previous experience in a 4-star or 5-star hotel is preferred.
• UAE/GCC hotel experience is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, and basic electrical systems.
• Flexible to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and emergency call-outs.
• Strong commitment to guest satisfaction, safety, and hotel standards.
